Energy Efficiency Consulting Services for Maryland Live! Casino at Arundel Mills - Maryland |
|
The Cordish Companies' (Cordish) selected B&R; Construction Services as it's Energy Efficiency Consultant for the MEP systems serving this 300,000 sf Casino facility and 1.5 mil. sf parking garage located in Hanover, Maryland.
Our responsibilities on this project are:
- Energy Efficiency consulting on the MEP systems (lighting, HVAC, domestic hot water, other) including: selecting the most feasible systems, coordination with the local utility company (BG&E;) for acquiring energy efficiency incentives, coordination with equipment vendors and installing contractors on competitive pricing negotiation along with equipment deliveries and installation schedules, develop detailed financial feasibility analysis and environmental impact evaluations (reduction of CO2 equivalent emissions) for all the energy conservation measures. Here are a couple of relevant examples of highly efficient systems that have been or are being installed on this project:
- The approximately 1,400 LED light fixtures used here, lower the parking garage lighting energy usage by 62% in comparison with the Metal Halide technology. This is not just an outstanding (energy) efficient project, but also a show case for LED lighting being feasibly implemented on a large scale 100% privately funded commercial development. Through an aggressive pricing negotiation with vendors, manufacturers and installing contractors, along with acquiring financial incentives through the BG&E; rebate program, this LED lighting project has a payback of 0 months.
- The Energy Efficient Chillers serving the 300,000 s.f. casino floor reduce the energy usage by 15% comparing with ASHRAE 90.1 2007 base line.
- Renewable Power Generation assessments for implementing a solar Photovoltaic system, including: sizing the system (approx. 1.5 MWh), assess the available incentives (federal, state, local, SRECs), assess the overall system feasibility (projected annual cash flows, NPV, IRR, simple payback, and other engineering economics evaluations), assess the system development opportunities (cash investment versus Power Purchasing Agreement/PPA).
