Located in the Baltimore-Washington Corridor, the new Maryland Live! Casino, one of the country’s largest gambling venues, features a 330,000 square-foot gaming and entertainment facility with nearly 5,000 electronic gaming tables and slot machines. In order to accommodate the expected 4 million annual visitors, the Maryland Live! Project included a new six-level, 1.5 million square foot parking garage, equipped to house over 4,300 vehicles.
When Cordish assembled the architect and the engineering team for this project, they hired B&R Construction Services to take the role of identifying, assessing, selecting and coordinating the implementation of the most financially feasible and environmentally responsible Energy Conservation Measures (ECM).
After evaluating all national, state, local and utility company incentive programs, B&R recommended Philips Wide-Lite Quality LED Parking (QLP) luminaries as the most feasible solution for the garage floor lighting system due to the products:
- Competitive price
High energy efficiency
Outstanding photometric performance
Long lifetime
Available incentives
Low maintenance costs
Using LED lighting technology for the Maryland Live! Casino:
- Netted a $374,500.00 utility company rebate
Projected to have a 6-month payback
Lowers lighting energy usage by 62%
