Welcome to Theodore Judah Elementary! We are pleased to have you as a part of our school community.
We emphasize access to a well-rounded education. In addition to instruction in our core academic areas of English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies based on the Common Core State Standards, our students are also enriched by instruction in music, art, and our Science Alive program, which is a school garden compliment to our classroom science instruction. Our students continue to be competitive with the achievement of our local area criteria schools. We also have a wide range opportunities for after school enrichment programs.
While the Common Core Standards drive much of our academic content, our mission and school priorities provide the foundation for how we do our work. We believe successful neighborhood public schools are essential to healthy communities and civic development for our youth. We believe that all students can learn when instruction meets their needs. We promote collaboration within our staff and strive to be consistent in our instructional program across grades and classrooms. We seek to maximize the learning for all students, not just some, and we believe that diversity is an asset. We believe in being a dynamic organization that strives for continuous growth and improvement and one that rejects complacency and rigidity.
But, we cannot do it alone. Parents and families are welcome here, and our community partnerships are strong. Therefore, I encourage you to develop a positive working relationship with your child's teacher and to be an active part of our school community. There are many ways to be involved. For example, you may volunteer in your child's class, join the PTA, attend School Site Council Meetings and attend the principal's coffee, which is held the third Thursday of every month. We also distribute our parent newsletter monthly, which also helps inform our community of school events. The newsletter is posted on our website and electronically though our classroom e-mail lists and room parent network. Hard copies are also available in the office.
Because of our well-rounded academic program and strong levels of partnership with parents and community, our school continues to thrive and grow. Not only have we added more students, we will also be redesigning and remodeling the back of our campus to add additional classrooms and to improve our learning space. Construction is finally underway! We look forward to working with you as partners in your child's education. Please do not hesitate to call if you have additional questions.
